Nikon n75 problem loading film

When I try to load a new roll of film into the camera, instead of loading the film, the camera will rewind it back into the film cannister. It used to be an occasional problem, but it's now rewound the last six rolls of film I've tried to load. When I close the door, I can hear the gears going, but never the click and the numbers on the screen don't start advancing. Then the ERR message pops up and when I open the door the film has been rewound back into the case. I've tried taking out the batteries to reset. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
