Shutter won't depress, advance lever won't move.

I've had this camera in the box for a long time. Decided to take it out of box again. I just took the film off the spool because I couldn't get the film to advance. Once I did that, the lever did move and I depressed the shutter. Then it seemed to be frozen up again. Somehow it worked, just like that, one more time, now those parts don't move. I don't know what I did (if anything) to 'solve' the problem one time, and don't know what happened that the problem didn't stay solved. I'm new at this, obviously. Maybe the parts are stiff and maybe not.
